Description Our M1918 Belgian Army Greatcoat is a faithfully reproduced classic example of late-war Belgian military tailoring of the First World War. Issued to infantry, artillery, engineers, and support troops, this heavy khaki wool overcoat was extensively used in trench warfare. It is constructed from thick, high-quality wool (please see wool specifications in the product highlight section) in a muted khaki-brown shade, the coat features a single-breasted front with five large buttons, a tall fall collar, and turned-back cuffs for reinforcement. Shoulder straps are provided for unit or rank insignia, different branch of service colors piping is available at no extra charge (red for artillery, yellow for cavalry, etc. – a complete list is given below) (plain khaki & shoulders and red are depicted in product pictures). The skirt was cut long to mid-calf length, providing warmth in winter and coverage in muddy trench conditions.
