This state-sponsored tourist map of Beijing offers a multifaceted overview of the massive and historic Chinese city. One side emphasizes transit, noting the primary transport lines throughout the city, as well as bus lines to the suburbs and elsewhere in the Beijing Municipality. The verso presents plans of several famous attractions, including the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Beijing Zoo, and Xiangshan Park. The map was compiled and published by the Map Publishing House. Printed by the Tianjin People’s Printing Factory. The first edition was issued in 1979; this is the 7th edition, printed in 1986. The year after, the Forbidden City would be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
