1969 Headwaters Area Map Lake of the Ozarks Kaysinger Lake

This striking pictorial view of the Lake of the Ozarks reflects the local optimism of residents of Warsaw, Missouri, as the Kaysinger Dam’s construction was underway. The popular vacation region was already home to one of the largest man-made lakes west of the Mississippi, but the completion of the dam would significantly expand the reservoir (and its recreational opportunities). Red lines and light blue shading highlight the roads under construction and the future lake area, respectively. The image was originally copyrighted in 1967 by the Headwaters Association of the Lake of the Ozarks, located in Warsaw, Missouri. This later edition, dated 1969, is attributed to the truncated Headwaters Area Association and was lithographed by MWM Color Press of Aurora, MO. The verso of the sheet presents numerous advertisements and a directory of local businesses.
