This is an authentic Nazi Germany NSDAP armband; the standard armband worn by party members. It was also worn by many service members and other personnel during the war. Description & Condition: A high-quality (early) wool armband w/the standard red band, white disc & swastika. A rarer type, multi-piece construction fully embroidered BeVo style Swastika machine woven into the band. It is in very good condition w/the ends sewn together. Standard age/use wear, all consistent w/period use and subsequent removal from a uniform & overall in very good condition. Measurements (approximate): 8"L x 4 1/2"H (as displayed in photos). History: One of the most recognizable pieces of insignia associated with Nazi Germany is the swastika. Armbands were utilized by most all organizations of the Third Reich. The swastika, (a Sanskrit word meaning “well-being”), is an ancient symbol that was utilized in numerous diverse cultures and signified both the cycle of life and the sun. The swastika was also a Nordic rune and the pagan Germanic symbol for Thor, God of Adventurers. Armbands bearing the swastika were introduced by the early National Socialists in 1920 as an identifier for party members. Various forms existed for different party branches and affiliated organizations like the SS, SA, and Hitler Youth.
