WW2 (Nazi Germany) 1939 Spange (Clasp) for the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class Medal - Maker Mark (L/12)

$49.49 $64.34
This is an authentic Nazi Germany 1939 WW2 Spange (Clasp) to the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon, awarded to recipients of the WWI Iron Cross. Description: Obverse - The spread winged eagle clutching a wreath with central swastika, above a trapezoidal “1939” date panel. The clasp appears to be silver construction, with some of the original silver wash worn, leaving an even dark gray to brown patina typical of period used and/or aged examples. Details to the eagle, wreath, and date remain clearly visible despite the finish loss. Reverse - Maker Marked L/12 (produced by C.E. Juncker of Berlin) w/fitted dual flat wire prongs for attachment to the WWI Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon. The prongs remain intact and show standard age wear/use, consistent with period wear. Measurements (approximate): 8"L x 4 1/2"H (as displayed in photos). History: The 1939 Spange was instituted on 1 September 1939 by Adolf Hitler to recognize recipients of the 1914 Iron Cross who again earned the award during World War II. It allowed WWI veterans of the German Wehrmacht to display their continued service and bravery in WWII. It was worn on the ribbon of the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class & allowed recipients of the 1914 Iron Cross to wear it in conjunction with the 1939 version, indicating a second award (similar to a bar or clasp) rather than replacing the original medal. The clasp was attached to the ribbon of the 1914 Iron Cross, which was worn through the second buttonhole of the uniform tunic. It was a way for the Third Reich to honor the experience of "Old Guard" soldiers, allowing them to show that they had again performed acts of bravery in the field ————————————————————— WW2 (Nazi Germany) - Authentic 1939 Spange (Clasp) for the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class Medal $215.00 (Firm) Instituted 1 Sep 1939 by Adolf Hitler.
