WW2 (Nazi Germany) Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) Mess Hall Serving Platter (Rosenthal)

This is an authentic WW2-era porcelain serving platter of Nazi Germany used in a Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) - German Labor Front mess hall; it was manufactured by Rosenthal, indicated by its back stamp. Porcelain ware like this was standard issue in military mess halls, canteens, & factories...used by workers and staff during the period. Markings: - Sharply depicts the mobile swastika within a “gear” or "cogwheel" (the symbol for the DAF). - there is no date stamp; the text type suggests production would have been no earlier than 1941. - Manufacturers mark, Rosenthal - The text "Modell des amtes Schönheit der arbeit" (Model of the Office for Beauty of Labour). Condition: Made of high quality porcelain; produced with durability & design to withstand regular use. Maintains mostly its original polish throughout & contains standard age wear. For its age, it’s in excellent condition w/quite visible markings at the underside. A solid addition to any collection of German militaria, porcelain, or DAF artifacts. History: The Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) was the state labor organization which replaced independent trade unions after Adolf Hitler's rise to power. The Amt Schönheit der Arbeit (Office for Beauty of Labor) was a sub-organization of the DAF. Its purpose was to improve the aesthetics of the German workplace by setting standards for factory design, cleanliness, and canteen equipment. The office was officially dedicated to increasing ergonomics, industrial safety & design standards set by the regime...and this mark was a seal of approval.
