This is an authentic inter-war/WW2 era German enamel Street Sign - Moltkestrasse (Moltke Street). It is named after the German general & Chief of the Great German General Staff, & a member of the "House of Moltke", Helmuth Johannes Ludwig Graf von Moltke (25 May 1848 - 18 June 1916). The sign is flat with a solid covering of enamel. It’s a solid, heavy weight piece presenting very few blemishes but standard age wear consistent with its age should be expected. Measurements (approximate): Lenght: 19 3/4" Height: 6" Weight: 2 lbs, 10 oz HISTORY: Helmuth Johannes Ludwig Graf von Moltke (25 May 1848 - 18 June 1916) was a German general and Chief of the Great German General Staff, & a member of the House of Moltke. He was the nephew of General field Marshal Graf Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke. To differentiate the two, they were commonly referred to as "Moltke the Younger" & "Moltke the Elder", respectively. Upon becoming the head of the General Staff, Moltke led the German Army from 1 January 1906 to 14 September 1914 during the opening months of World War I.
