Army Training Instruction No 7, The Tactical Handling of Brigade Support Groups (1943)
$76.96
$103.89
Description For a period in the mid-war period of the Second World War, Vickers machine guns formed part of Brigade Support Groups, alongside 4.2-inch mortars and the 20mm light anti-aircraft guns (such as the Polsten, Oerlikon and Hispano). They were directly under the tactical command of Brigades and were formed from the Machine Gun Battalions by splitting into three groups, with the battalion headquarters attached to Divisional Headquarters to administer them, albeit loosely. By mid-1944, they had largely returned to the Divisional (Machine Gun) Battalion organisation with a battalion command and control structure. This Army Training Instruction sets out the doctrine for the tactical handling of the groups. From WO 231/287 at the National Archives. Like this:Like Loading...
